Is what was just yelled at me for going 15mph over in a industrial park.
1. I’m aware.
2. Its not your job to tell me.
He claimed I was doing 65 in a 35, was certainly not. Also claimed he had a dash cam and was going to send it to the police. Yea do that. Don’t follow me into my work parking lot to make a point.
He also said “You think you drive however you want becasue you have a red sports car?” Nope! I drove like that before I got the car.
I was polite and a bit sarcastic saying “your point was made”. Guy just kept yelling the same stuff for a minute until some co-workers came out and he sped off.
Fun way to start the morning.

While I don’t agree with his methods, it’s hard to fault his concerns.
I live across the street from a city park, on a 25 mph road with a major road on one side, and a train station at the other (.25 miles apart) like clockwork, the SUVs going 40+ show up 5 minutes before the train does. We have a radar sign, but those are as effective as scotch tape.
We’re getting speed humps and raised crosswalks when they repave the road this September.
If cars had only done 30 and a little over, I doubt the town would have even done the radar sign. The fact that cars were caught doing 48 last summer was the impetus for the redesign.
I’m ok with a little extra speed, limits tend to be artificially low, but 15 over is excessive regardless of the street you’re on.

had some guy riding my ass on a long exit ramp so I brake-checked him. He got pissed. Super duper pissed. after the ramp there was a light and he pulled up next to me (blocking a right turn only lane) and started cursing me out and calling me a mother fucker. I simply blew him a kiss and watched his head explode into rage while I pulled away at the light. Good times.

Also, I’d have checked to see if he really did have a dashcam first. Dashcams don’t really show speed because of the wide-angle, but they will show a burnout...

Not to be that guy .... but .... a city park with a 25mph limit and an industrail park with a 35 limit are different. Its a 4 lane road with no one walking around.
Obviously I was speeding, but not the point I needed to be followed and told to slow down.

Speed humps are okay but holy shit I cannot stand speed bumps. I have seen residential streets that use the bump kind that you see in shopping mall lots. My Miata is at stock height and yet I generally have to drive at an angle while going about 5mph in order to not scrape the bottom of my car. I can’t imagine how bad it is for people with lowered cars. Anyways, I think a better design should be used that doesn’t scrape everything.

He claimed I was doing 65 in a 35, was certainly not.
I once got yelled at by some kids to slow down next to a play ground. I got on the gas hard from a stop sign and let off at the speed limit, they yelled “THE SPEED LIMIT IS 25!” I was going 25mph.
Just saying, a loud exhaust and a bright color can scew up someone’s sense of speed.... especially if they’re the type to try and impose justice on you.

We live on the main access road for our development and the road is about 1/4 mile long. Speeding was the norm and no amount of glaring at soccer moms in their minivans would slow them down. We finally found the solution. On weekends, I park my old truck in the street. The neighbor across the street also parks his car in the street. Between the two of us, we effectively turn the autobahn into a single country lane. It works every time.

Sure, which is why my road is 25 and the industrial park is 35.
Still 50+ is too much. I’d argue over 45 is too much on that road without even having to see it.
With 4 lanes, scale is hard to discern for drivers pulling out of parking lots and with them expecting you to be doing 35, their sense of timing is going to be way off if you are driving 40% faster than the posted limit.
It only takes once for you to have a really bad day.

We would have had speed bumps already, but I have fought those tooth and nail. We have 4 crosswalks along the road, and I have asked for those to be raised to humps so that cars have to slow down in the spots where pedestrian traffic will be. It only makes sense to combine the two.
I just don’t want the park to be renamed Little Timmy Memorial Park, ya know?

Had a similar experience that was so awkward I stopped driving down that street. There is this little neighborhood I cut through as a shortcut around traffic on my commute. Something tragic must have happened because every lawn in this neighborhood has a “drive like your children live here” sign in it. For going 25 in a 15 there I have been yelled at by kids and adults, and this one time a dude stepped out in front of my car. Seriously!?! Yeah my car is a little loud, but get a grip... I drive pretty damn slow through there. The last straw was when I saw the same retired dude who stepped in front of my car sitting in his driveway during rush hour with a motorcycle cop, waiting for speeders... so now I just deal with the traffic on the main road.

LOL. Had something similar happen to me - This dude cut me off talking a left in his big dually truck with a trailer. Scared me pretty good, so I honked and flipped him the bird. At the next intersection he pulled into the ONCOMING LANE to block me and scream out the window “DO THAT AGAIN AND I’LL BREAK YOUR FINGER OFF. ” The worst part was that there was a terrified little girl in the passenger seat with tears in her eyes. I felt SO BAD. And now my middle finger stays on the wheel. Permanently

Man just driving a car that looks “fast” gets people all triggered even if you aren’t going fast. Used to happen all the time with the old fuckers in Florida and the crossfire.
I got a dude to yell at me several times, and actually had a guy in a work truck pull onto the curb next to me at a stoplight because I had legally passed him on a two lane road. He yelled “get out of the car!!” So I was gone faster than he finished that sentence.

Those are definitely the best way to design crosswalks. I am pretty sure people ignore the zebra stripes entirely. The reflectors, flashing lights, and raised speed hump crosswalk are ideally the best design. I hate feeling like I am risking my life on foot while crossing a street. Any amount of aids like that are highly beneficial.

Never had an experiance that bad but.. The country road that takes me into town is dotted with homes, the speed limit is 45. So my car is VERY loud and everyday Id be exiting a corner just as I passed some guys house, Eventually he started screaming at me everytime I drove past,”Slow Down Punk” but usually I was less than ten over, Ive sinse slowed down driving past his place to a rediculously slow pace. Mostly because in a small community I know id meet him in person eventually.

I live on a one-way where people shortcut a major road two blocks over. It’s not a quiet, dead-end type of neighbourhood so it’s normal to have lots of traffic and I can’t expect to keep people off of my street but I can expect people to drive respectfully.
The speed limit is 30 km/h so it’s pretty obvious when someone is speeding. I have, more than once, stepped to the edge of the road and indicated to passing motorists to slow down. Sometimes, it includes me yelling like an idiot.
Most of the time, they slow down and continue on their way somewhat sheepishly. Sometimes they stop and want to know why the world doesn’t revolve around their very important schedule. I just point out the fact that the dozens of family on the street don’t wish to bury any of their young children. Usually they don’t have much to respond with after that.

In a separate story, a friend had someone who was shortcutting traffic in their back alley at very high speeds. The entire neighbourhood was upset, so one day my friend waited in the back alley with a shovel and smacked the windshield of the car as it sped by, breaking the handle in two.
The guy didn’t stop, and he never came back.

As someone with a 2 year old, they have a 15mph speed limit for a reason. Shes made a run for pretty flowers/dogs/whatever several times when I turn my back. 10 over in a 55 isn't special, but 10 over in a 15 is almost doubling the limit.
